Stats NZ open data API

The StatsNZ open data API offers machine-readable access to a growing catalogue of our datasets, making it easier for developers and analysts to build customised applications directly from these datasets and analyse the results.

Sign up to see what’s on offer. Our first release contains selected datasets that are used by the Stats NZ’s COVID-19 data portal.

Available technical documentation includes information about the OData protocol we used for the API (application programming interface) and advice on how to write queries against the StatsNZ open data API.
